Rose and Basil | 104 East 7th Street | East Village

Hello Little Blogosphere!

Rose and Basil is a charming little coffee shop and bakery close to the border of alphabet city on 7th street, off of 1st Avenue. Stepping down into Rose and Basil is like stepping down into a Southern parlor. You would expect at least one person to be wearing white silk gloves and drinking tea with a lifted pinky finger. Pastel flowers cover the walls and ceilings, like a extensive Etsy-inspired school project. String and Edison lights set a unique mood. The cold brew is good, but the baked goods are better.

It’s good to know with the number of great bakeries and ice cream stores on 7th street, the store owners all seem to be friendly rather than competitive. Additionally, the shop is calm and cutesy. The wi-fi is fast and a stack of Elle magazines at the front bar safely makes Rose and Basil the girliest coffee shop in existence.
